I have used following techniques shown below in this 3ds max tutorial.

[1]-Start 3dsmax and choose "Box" with the following size as shown below   
     Create box in the front view port

[1]-First of all Open New Document of Custom Size,Height & Width 500×500 pxl,Resolution 72 & Mode RGB Color
